Church History

In summer of 2000, Ivan Allum and John Brown, independent of each other, felt led to plant a church in Stratford, Ontario. After discussing the idea together, they agreed on a structure and a purpose, drawing from Ephesians 4:10-12, which outlines the basis of raising up the five fold ministries of Christ - first Apostles, then Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers and Psalm 18:33-34, "He makes my feet like hinds' feet, and sets me upon my high places. He trains my hands for battle, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze."

Highlands began on October 1, 2000. We held our first services in the home of John & Sue Brown, in Stratford. We then moved to the Arden Park Hotel on Ontario Street and, later, to King Lear School. Finally, we landed in our present location at 615 Erie St. We continue to view ourselves as a resource and equipping center for smaller churches and communities. God has brought people to our church from a number of nations, including Germany, England, the U.S. and South Africa, to catch our vision and receive impartations of the prophetic and other gifts. We anticipate growing to accommodate more visitors, interns and students.

Highlands is a member of Partners in Harvest, an affiliation of autonomous churches partnering together in the vision of spreading the fire of God's presence in the harvest of revival.
